Week 61 - Hawaiian Haystacks, Rainstorms, and Guadeloupe's Got Talent!!!

Salut ! Comment ça va ?

We were very busy this week, but it was full of meeting super cool new friends and sharing the Gospel with them. We felt Heavenly Father guiding us every day, leading us to those who are open to hearing our message!

We had a cool experience yesterday as we were looking for a woman that we found in the Area Book. We called her and fixed an appointment, but we didn't know exactly where her house was-- only that it was in this one neighborhood. When we got to the neighborhood, we tried to call her and ask her to direct us to her house, but she didn't answer our calls. We had no idea how to find her, so we just talked to some random people and asked if they knew an Elizabeth and if they could tell us how to find her house. As we were asking around, Soeur Kitchen noticed a lady sitting out on her porch and suggested we go ask her. As we approached her house, she went inside and grabbed two other chairs and a Book of Mormon in her hands!! We asked, "Are you Elizabeth?" and she said, "Yes!!" I know that the Spirit truly guided us directly to her home because nobody else knew where she lived, and we wouldn't have been able to find her otherwise!

Another person we went to see from the Area Book had cut out the picture of Jesus on the cover of the Plan of Salvation brochure and put it on her front door!! So her house was a little easier to find hahaha :) But that was super cute to see! Sadly she didn't end up being able to see us, but I'm excited to try again and see how it goes!

This week we also had the Soeurs fly in from Martinique! Soeur Hamner and Soeur Vogrenic are our Sister Training Leaders and they came to see us for exchanges. We had a blast working and laughing together!!

We found Cream of Chicken soup at our grocery store a few weeks ago, which I thought didn't exist here!! We found it in the foreign foods section, hahaha 😂 But with the Soeurs we decided to make Hawaiian haystacks, one of my MOST favorite dishes from home that I haven't had in ages!! It was my last home-cooked meal before I left, and eating it totally made me feel like I was right back at home for a second. It's crazy how powerful your favorite food can be haha!

On Friday night, all three of the branches in Guadeloupe got all their youth together, and they organized a talent show!! It was such a blast, there are some SERIOUSLY talented youth here in Guadeloupe! Some of the talents were singing (usually they sing American pop songs haha), skits, and dances!! I wish I could upload some videos, but this computer isn't even working to upload my pictures this week. So sorry 😞

Today we're doing some emergency preparations because apparently there is a big storm coming to Guadeloupe this week!! Hopefully nothing too bad happens but Soeur Kitchen and I are prepared for anything 💪

Hopefully next week I'll get to send some pics! Love each of you and hope you have a really great week! ❤🌈

Gros bisous,
Soeur Gardner
