Week 23 - RAIN and Frogs!!

Hey all!! This week was a little different than the others I've spent in Guyane so far, as we spent almost the whole week in some of the richer neighborhoods in our area. Our branch president asked us to try to find more educated people with stable jobs, and he especially wants men... which just happens to be about the hardest combination you can think up to try and teach the Gospel to in Guyane haha! But we're listening to his request and having been walking through tons of nice neighborhoods talking to people. Lots of the people in those neighborhoods come from France and are here to work. We joked in our district that now we're scared of white people haha-- something about them has just become intimidating!! So if any of you missionaries that serve or have served in the States or Canada or Europe, I could use some advice! How do you go about sharing the message with people? We've tried sparking interest in family history work, in learning English, and in sharing the Book of Mormon or a message about Christ. But I am 100% open to some fresh ideas!!

This week we also got to help a less-active family in our ward move. They have two really sweet daughters, ages 12 and 7. They've got lots of spunk and remind me of my own sisters back home haha :) We loaded all their plants (They have DOZENS of beautiful plants!!) into our truck and dropped them off at their new house (which happens to be in one of the nice neighborhoods we contacted!! Maybe this'll give us an in with their neighbors, haha ;)). We also got to stay and have cake, as it was the 12 year old's birthday!! So that was a party!! :)

On Sunday the sky DUMPED buckets of rain during sacrament meeting! And it was about time, things have been so dry and hot. I'll never take rain for granted again in my life!! It made for a fun adventure that night though-- as we were trekking through an apartment complex last night we got surrounded by a TON of frogs (HUGE bumpy frogs with warts). They all got drawn out of the sewers or whatever dank places they come from because of the rain... One of them attacked my ankle!! We made it out safe but barely :)

This week we also got stuck talking to one guy for over an hour about Trump and "all of America's problems." I was honestly kind of enjoying being away from all the political drama going on right now, but I guess he had some cool insights! Apparently he's some sort of internet celebrity-- he said all the American youth think he's so cool and intelligent haha. So I'm honored I got the chance to converse with him! :)

Well, I think that's about all the highlights from this week! Love to you all! :)
