Week 19 - Living in a Lizard's World...

Howdy everyone!! I hope you're all doing well and enjoying Fall! It's just getting hotter here but we've already got Christmas music playing in the car-- getting into the Holiday spirit!! :)

This week was a little weird, as it was kind of hard to adjust back to life here in Guyane after spending the last weekend being pampered at Sister's Conference. But we're getting back into the swing of things :) On Thursday we spent almost all day sitting in the OFII office (not sure what it stands for but it's basically so I can legally stay here in the French departments for 18 months). It was really boring, but we got to play a little with a cute little girl and pass some phone calls, so I think we spent that time as well as we could have haha :) That's when Soeur Morrell did her first phone call completely on her own!! I was SO proud of her, like seeing your baby walk for the first time! Haha okay I'm sure the latter would probably be more exciting, but still, I was excited for her!! :)

Besides that, almost ALL our lessons fell through this week, which left us with lots of time to do contacting and follow ups with people! It can be frustrating when lessons don't hold up, but I've come to realize that if it doesn't work out, it's probably for a reason and that there's somebody else we have to meet that day. So now it's kinda exciting when a lesson is cancelled, 'cause you get to see what miracle God has in store for you haha! :)

Another funny thing: As a district we've started doing "District Monkey Challenges" (the district monkey is the companion of the district leader who always gets dragged around doing district leader things without actually being one haha). So this week Elder Nielsen (the district monkey) challenged us to give a brochure to somebody working in a Chinois (Chinois are little shops that are like 99% run by Chinese immigrants). So Soeur Morrell and I went to probaby 5 different Chinois, but we got rejected EVERY time haha! It got funnier and funnier every time we ran into the store and heard another "no" haha :)

We also have a couple lizards living in our apartment!! We find their poop all the time and sometimes see a glance of them when we open the cupboards. Last week we found a super fat one and we took some pictures with it (hopefully they'll get put into my picture email). It's a little creepy and it always makes my heart skip a beat when I see them haha!

Well I can't think of anything else super exciting or interesting to include... But I hope you have an amazing week!! Love to you all :)

Bisous,
Soeur Gardner
