Week 16 - What a WILD week!

Wow, looking back on last week it feels like things have changed so much!! But things are going so well and I'm super happy!! :)

So I spent the majority of this week (Monday to Thursday) in Martinique with the Soeurs there-- Soeur Cooper, Soeur Hamner, and Soeur Christianson. On Tuesday, we took Soeur Krucher to the airport and said goodbye!! It was such a surreal feeling saying goodbye to her, and it honestly still doesn't feel totally real. But I know I learned a LOT from her and she'll always have a place in my heart! So I'm happy for the time we had together, and excited for the time I get to have now with Soeur Morrell!! :)

So some funny stories from Martinique:
-We were out contacting in the morning when we stopped outside this one cute house with a super cool garden. We called to the woman inside, who was probably a 60 or 70 year old woman on the phone laughing like a maniac haha!! We stood outside and waited for her to be done, because we really wanted to talk to her. When she was done on the phone a couple minutes later, she came out and we started getting to know her a little. We discovered she actually is familiar with the church because her sister is a member!! But she is a DEVOTED Evangelist and has a TON of love for God! We noticed an interesting lump in her dress and she told us a little later that it was her Bible-- she said she always keeps her Bible in her dress so that she's always protected! She fed us some prunes and Coca Cola and sang us a few really cool songs about how God gives her strength. Anyway, she was just super hilarious, definitely a character!! :)
-We also got to do contacting in some neighborhoods with a gorgeous view of the ocean!! We met some really sweet and funny people, it was a blast!

On Thursday, I met Soeur Morrell in the Martinique airport to fly back to Guyane!! I REALLY love her, she's hilarious and she is SUPER motivated to work hard and is already learning and improving every day! It's been a little crazy and stressful with both of us being so new, but we are learning and progressing! We're doing our best to just be patient and laugh at all our mistakes. We've already had a couple funny language miscommunications while talking to people, but you just gotta shrug it off and keep going with a smile! I can definitely feel Heavenly Father helping us along every step of the way. I have a lot of hope for this transfer!

I'm getting SO excited for General Conference! We get to travel to Barbados to watch it with all the sisters in the mission and have a little sisters conference full of devotionals, service projects, and missionary work! So I'm really looking forward to that! :)

Love each of you!! Enjoy the beginning of Fall!!

Bisous,
Soeur Gardner
